Custom Kraft 4271 Ambassador Vibramatic

Product Description

This awesome guitar is a Valco/Supro made Custom Kraft Ambassador Vibramatic made in the USA during the mid 60's. It is in beautiful, all original condition, sounds amazing and plays like a dream. The body and neck are maple and what a cool looking headstock design.

Custom Kraft was a brand name for instruments sold by St. Louis Music. From the mid 50's through to the mid 60's they sold some Kay built guitars, mainly archtops, and also some Japanese imports. In '63 the company started selling Valco-made Ambassador solid bodies which were inspired by the Burns Bison, as well as some of Valco's National and Supro models. In 1966 the Vibramatic was an effort to link Custom Kraft with the currently popular British Invasion instruments.

The guitar features some of the better features of the Valco/National/Supro U.S. made guitars, including a Kord King neck and Vista Tone pickups. Kord King necks featured an aircraft grade aluminum insert instead of a truss rod, which according to the catalogue were ‘guaranteed’ not to bend (this neck is perfectly straight so maybe it was true?). The Vista Tone ‘anti-hum’ pickups are single coils using a patented technique that extends the magnetic field and produces a very robust harmonious sound. They also feature individual pole adjustments for more ‘sensitive string response’.

These guitars were one of the last American made Valco guitars, who also manufactured the Supro Lexington which is almost identical to this Ambassador "vibramatic". Comes with a gigbag.
